In an 8-week randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 60 adults taking 300 mg a day, serum cortisol fell 35%, DASS-21 scores fell 30%, Stanford Sleepiness Scale scores fell 33% and WHOQOL-BREF scores rose 17% from baseline, while the placebo group worsened on all four. Sleep efficiency rose from 85% to 93% on workdays.
In pharmacokinetic testing, onset of action was 30 minutes, with plasma levels sustained for about 4 hours.
